Lotto payout worldwide
Many lottos are more or less government-owned or government-controlled. In general, a certain percentage of the betting total is reserved as an income for
the organizing country or state, sometimes for the benefit of social work or projects with a public interest.
A smaller percentage will go to resellers.
The payout that reaches the lotto participants/players is listed below.
This list will be extended. Meanwhile, if you wish to add information or if you find any inaccuracies in the information below, please do not hesitate to contact us.

USA: in the Powerball game – and in most U.S. lotto games – the payout is 50%.
source: Multi-State Lottery Association, Urbandale, Iowa USA
Winnings are taxed so the actual return to the players is less than 50%; different rules apply for prizes
over $600.00 or $5,000.00 and taxes vary per state, see
powerball-faq.htm and look for 'taxable'.

Netherlands: the Dutch lotto does not provide information on payout. However,
since prizes are fixed (independent of the number of winners or participants) it can be calculated.
Taking into account the national gambling tax (29%) for prizes over a certain amount (454 Euro), we calculated that the part of the overall betting total that reaches the players
can be as little as 18%, depending on how you would value a free game (the smallest prize, for 2 correct numbers out of 45 awards a free game).
